Not all #OEMs are developing electric vehicles from the ground up as Ford Motor Company and General Motors. Thinking about it, Magna International introduced a flexible electric drive unit EDS Mid+ with 170kW (front wheel), and EtelligentDrive 250kW (rear wheel).<\/p>\n\n

It can allow current #passenger #trucks, #SUVs, light #commercialvehicles to easily adapt them to the front and rear axles, and requires minimum assembly platform adaptation, with no need to change OEM suspension and brake systems.<\/p>\n\n

Swamy Kotagiri, Magna International CEO, pitches to his customers: \u201cHere\u2019s the truck you had. We can make it electrified and it does exactly the same without changing your manufacturing footprint. Bringing that value differentiates you from everyone else.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

It is a practical solution to some OEMs. But there is still a question to be answered: how efficiently can #automakers add batteries to the remaining space in these vehicles to reach desired performance and mileage range?<\/p>\n\n
